As a counselor an alcohol awareness class I am diligent about scanning the Internet for stories related to alcohol problems. That means both people have issues with alcohol and incidents where alcohol was involved.
In almost every state in the United States the legal limit for blood-alcohol concentration is .08%. The limit was decreased in most of these states from .10%.
Is Legal Limit the Gold Standard?
But can you get a driving under the influence (DUI) violation for less than the legal limit? You bet you can! If you have alcohol in your system and your driving is impaired, according to an arresting officer, you can be convicted of DUI!
Aussie Example – School Teacher Arrested in Front of Her Class
A teacher in Werribee, Australia was arrested after being involved in two auto accidents on her way to school. The physical education teacher was arrested as her class stood on a sports field.
The 51-year-old South Yarra resident was interviewed in relation to two separate collisions, and police allege she was driving on a cancelled license and blew .032.
Unlicensed drivers are not permitted to have any alcohol in their system.
The moral of this story like many is “don’t drink and drive!”
