You know you have a serious drinking problem when you are personally known to local law enforcement officials and are referred to as “DUI Guy.” The logic here is that you must have numerous driving under the influence violations.
There's something to be said for knowing when you've had too much to drink. Although if you're lying on the ground, it's probably already a little too late. As reported in www.cbsnews.com.
Antonio Candelaria is well-known in the town of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was arrested again by local police officers for drunken driving. The difference this time was not that he was sober, but that he called police on himself.
Candelaria recently was arrested when officers found him drunk in his driveway and lying on the ground with his foot stuck in his motorcycle.
It is not that the 50-year-old was a good Samaritan trying to protect the public from his DUI behavior but for help after getting his foot stuck.
Candelaria's breath test results came out above .16, which is twice the legal limit in New Mexico.
Court records showed that Candelaria had a long list of DWI arrests and a handful of convictions.
Sounds like he should have his own hot-line to police headquarters. I hope he gets a good alcohol class and makes a commitment to not drinking alcohol. That is the only way to ensure he will not drink and drive again.
